82% households have mobile phones

ISLAMABAD – According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 82% Pakistani households have mobile phones, 58% of these are Nokia phones.
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “Does a member of your household own a mobile phone?” In response, 82% respondents said yes and 15% said no one in their household has a mobile phone, while 3% did not respond.


Those respondents who said yes were further asked, “Please tell us which company’s mobile phone do you have?” In response, 58% respondents said they own Nokia mobile phones, 23% named Q-mobile, and 14% named Samsung. 1% respondents own iPhones, 1% own Chinese phones, 1% named others and 2% did not respond.
The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2,514 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during October 13-20, 2014. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95%.
